It’s been a great start of the year if you’re single and looking to mingle with every dating app, giving some sort of discount to get you to kickstart your 2025 resolution of finally finding someone. (Sitch is doing one setup for free with the code DINIVIP and I’m literally hand selecting the match so you have no reason not to atleast try it out hehe)

But if you’re a little old-school, and are still hoping to meet your person out in the wild (what a crazy thought!), here’s the ultimate guide of where you should be flirting this winter.

the only two scales that matter: hot vs not and unexpected vs usual

subscribe for weekly dating tips + unhinged new york gossip

quadrant 1: hot and usual

These are your classics, tried and tested. It’s the Sant Ambroes of dating.

  • Sant Ambrose on a Sunday: This is church if you are European and live in the city. You must go in your Sunday best, and beg for a table outside. Maybe even carry your checkers set. If you don’t speak Italian or are more into the Aussie Loury hipster type then go read infinite just at, Gem NYC

  • Grocery store: it is a universal truth that the hottest guys are at the Trader Joe’s on a Saturday morning. You can tell they are single by the items in their grocery basket - lots of easy to cook meals, no Trader Joe’s flowers or healthy snacks.

  • Weddings: The whole point of going to a wedding is not to celebrate someone’s love story, but rather create your own. Talking to people at weddings can feel like speed dating - you have a few minutes to decide if you vibe enough to stay when the customary minutes of chit chat of how beautiful the bride is looking, which side you’re from, and what you do for a living finishes up. It’s exceedingly rare, but sometimes two people really do feel fireworks!

  • Anytime you see a British man: The accent is everything, and in all situations, you must say something. Extra points if the man is Daniel Radcliffe or Jonathan Bailey.

  • On the beach in Bali: every eat pray love vacation deserves a beach make out with a random stranger. Do not share Instagram’s after and ideally do not even share names. .

quadrant 2: hot and unexpected

These are the places you want be shooting your shot at where people aren’t tired of being hit on and a completely and totally shocked and surprised, maybe even delighted, when you do make a move.
